Please join me in congratulating , distinguished professor of mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences, on receiving the prestigious Humboldt Research Award from the .
Professor Zumbrun, who received the award in May, worked this summer with Professor Heinrich Freistühler and his lab at the University of Konstanz in Germany on relativistic shock waves, as well as shocks in extended thermodynamics. He will return in summer 2026 to continue this research.
In addition, he will visit the University of Stuttgart in summer 2026, along with 杏吧原创graduate student Christiane Gallos, to work with Professor Guido Schneider and his lab on pattern formation as it relates to issues in vasculogenesis and genetic expression. He will return in spring 2027 for longer visits to continue his research.
